Our equipment
Our equipment enables supply chain management research at the highest level, both for qualitative and quantitative approaches.
General equipment
- Each workstation is equipped with a docking station, a 34'' curved monitor and a professional webcam
- Each office is also equipped with whiteboards
- From an ergonomic point of view, each workstation has an electrically height-adjustable desk, an ergonomic chair and - if desired - an anti-fatigue mat
- We offer our assistants eight well-equipped workstations with modern PCs and two monitors each
- mobile partition walls facilitate undisturbed Zoom sessions or telephone calls
- our Hiwis can brainstorm, talk or simply switch off for a few minutes in the cozy meeting corner
- the room is available to the LFO as a quiet work or meeting room (for approx. twelve to fifteen people)
- smaller workshops and meetings can take place here undisturbed and focused
- the room is equipped with a conference system with a large screen so that hybrid meetings can also be held
- The LFO LAB is one of our highlights and serves as a multifunctional creative space
- The large event area and a separate seating area allow it to be used for different purposes at the same time
- The LFO LAB also houses the workshop with our 3D printers and the MINIS project
- Seminars, workshops and larger events with up to 25 people are held in the event area
- The room is equipped with a conference system with a large screen so that hybrid meetings can also be held
- digital and analog whiteboards as well as fully writable walls make it possible to capture the really big ideas
Technical equipment
- our employees receive a Lenovo Think Pad Carbon X1 in the latest version
- For more demanding work, simulation computers (laptops) with higher computing power are also available
- Access to a wide range of hardware and software for future-oriented qualitative and quantitative research (e.g. MS Office, Overleaf, MAXQDA, AnyLogic, etc.)
- For smaller simulations, the LFO has its own computing center with 130 GB RAM servers at its free disposal
- Our Dell R7515 is equipped with almost 100 GB RAM, 40 GB GPU memory, two powerful GPUs and 32 threads. It is specifically designed to support our AI services and a variety of programs and offers unparalleled performance for demanding computing tasks.
- Our high-performance GPU server has almost 24 cores, 48 threads and multiple GPUs, making it ideal for complex simulations and compute-intensive processes. It is designed to handle even the most demanding simulation tasks efficiently and effortlessly.
- As a member of our department, employees have access to TU Dortmund University's High Performance Cluster (HPC) or supercomputer - the LiDo. This resource offers immense computing power and enables advanced research projects and data-intensive applications (1.28 petabytes of storage and a 40 gigabit internet connection), which is specifically designed to process large amounts of data, perform complex calculations and complete computationally intensive tasks such as simulations and machine learning applications.
- Our Ultimaker 3S range includes cutting-edge 3D printers that can even print metal with ease. These advanced 3D printers bring designs to reality with precision and versatility, supporting a wide range of materials and applications.
- Our 3D printers are housed in the workshop at LFO LAB and are used in various projects - from a distributed order exchange to printing special components for our MINIS miniature factory
- We also provide the necessary software
- With our selection of AR and VR glasses, immersive worlds can be experienced, including the appropriate demonstration environments for their use. This allows our employees and students to immerse themselves in the world of augmented and virtual reality and discover state-of-the-art devices that redefine the boundaries of interaction.
- We also have 3D scanners for the three-dimensional capture of objects
- we make sound visible with our soundcams. Whether for predictive maintenance or other innovative applications, our soundcams make it possible to visualize sound for improved analysis and insights.
