With Prof. Henke as editor and in collaboration with the Chair of Enterprise Logistics, a new acatech STUDY on "Smart Maintenance - The path from status quo to target vision" has been published: acatech STUDY
Innovative maintenance - smart maintenance - is needed in order to continue to cope with a production environment that is becoming increasingly complex due to digitalization. It will become the driver of the factory of the future and lead Industry 4.0 to success.
The acatech POSITION published in 2015 already examined the need to adapt maintenance in Industry 4.0, highlighting the opportunities and challenges of smart maintenance and making recommendations on how maintenance can become future-proof in the smart factory.
Based on these findings, a joint project on the topic of "Smart Maintenance - from status quo to target vision" is being carried out on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Under the leadership of the Fraunhofer IML and with the support of a project group, the current technological status and the associated barriers to the implementation of smart maintenance are being developed.
The project thus provides information on the current level of maturity of previous efforts to establish intelligent maintenance in practice. In addition, a "signpost" is used to derive what the future vision of smart maintenance looks like for business practice and how it can be implemented.
