Your guide to the world of logistics

Introduction to logistics

The course is jointly organized by four logistics chairs of the Department of Mechanical Engineering - FLW, ITL, ITPL and LFO. Typical logistics structures, problem areas and day-to-day business are presented from the areas of "Intralogistics" (FLW), "Production Logistics" (LFO), "Distribution Logistics" (ITL) and "IT in Logistics" (ITPL).

The course is coordinated by the Chair of Materials Handling and Warehousing (FLW).

The Chair of Enterprise Logistics (LFO) is responsible for coordinating registrations as an extracurricular competence.

We implement a classic lecture and exercise concept for this course.

The concept of the course thus consists of classic attendance dates of the lecture and the exercise. The individual dates are held in sections by the FLW, LFO, ITL and ITPL; the order and topics covered are announced in the first event.

Students will have a basic understanding of logistics by...

  • Understanding basic terms, concepts and principles,
  • develop an understanding of challenges and strategies in logistics,
  • being able to place the contribution of the various logistics disciplines in an overall context,

to be able to develop solutions for typical problems in the field of logistics.

Students who would like to take "Introduction to Logistics" as an extracurricular competence and write the exam should send an email (full name, degree program, matriculation number) to the LFO supervisors listed below.

The "extracurricular competence" is aimed at students who cannot choose the subject (via the BOSS system) (e.g. teacher training subjects, electrical engineering, etc.), this does not mean minor subjects, application subjects or specialization subjects!

In this course, elements of digital teaching can be used in the context of, for example, preparation materials that are regularly made available online or Zoom lectures as well as digital voting tools.
