FAQ | Courses
A module with restricted participation is only open to a certain number of students. This is due to the special characteristics of a module, as sufficient supervision and teaching of content cannot be ensured if there are more participants. When participating in such a module, students are obliged to take part in the first possible examination date. The explicit conditions for each course can be found on the corresponding course page in our study area. You can find more information on this in your examination regulations.
Currently applies to our course(s): Corporate Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Master)
Flipped classroom describes a teaching concept in which knowledge is imparted through self-study using information provided and, building on this, the content is deepened, applied and discussed in the classroom (in-class) phase. This allows students to engage with the material regardless of time and place, and the joint discussion of content in class also increases learning success.
For modules with limited participation, the registration deadline ends after a transition period communicated by the course coordinators. Registration in the Moodle room after this deadline is binding and irrevocable. For modules with coursework, the end of the registration period for the coursework is decisive. Otherwise, the registration period of the examination applies.
The Moodle rooms for the respective courses will be activated by the start of each semester at the latest; separate deadlines apply for laboratories (see departmental information). The current link to the room can be found on the respective course pages.
If a registration key is required for one of our Moodle rooms, this can be found on the respective course page or will be communicated on the first course date. Please note for courses with a limited number of participants: the respective registration formalities can also be found on the course page.
We make every effort to make our events as accessible as possible. However, if there are any challenges or difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact the event organizers. We are open to any suggestions and will work with you to find a solution.
For the recognition of examinations taken abroad, please contact the International Coordination Office. You will find all the necessary information there. Please note: courses abroad are currently checked for recognition in advance. Please bear this in mind when planning your stay abroad and contact the International Affairs team in good time.
To take a Master's module as an enrolled Bachelor's student, please contact the Examinations Office. The necessary application will be initiated there and sent to us (or other chairs). In addition, please let the course supervisor know after you have received admission from the Examinations Office. (Link to the examination office)
Please note: courses with restricted attendance (e.g. specialist laboratories or our Master's course "Corporate Logistics and Supply Chain Management") and final theses cannot be brought forward.

Passed coursework remains valid for the duration of the course and is usually recorded in BOSS. It is therefore not formally necessary to repeat a course achievement that has been passed. However, it is generally recommended that the content of the coursework is studied in the following semester.
Failure to select a specialization often prevents you from registering for coursework or examinations. If you have further problems with registering for coursework and examinations, please contact the Examinations Office.
FAQ | Examinations
In the case of modules with restricted attendance, attendance is compulsory on the first possible examination date, which automatically creates a module commitment. If you do not pass on the first date, you are bound to the module; you are then free to attend the second or third date as you wish.
If you have problems registering for an exam or coursework in BOSS, please contact the Examinations Office.
Most of the examinations are planned and scheduled centrally by TU Dortmund University. The Department of Mechanical Engineering publishes the examination schedules.
